Beautiful Sunrise

I was rowing on Tempe Town Lake this morning and thinking how beautiful the sunrise was. I was wishing I had my camera in the bow and was able to take pictures as the boat glided on the glass like water with the brillant sunrise. Apparently, that view wasn't limited to just the Lake. Matt snapped some photos from our back yard.

New Camera

Last week I received my new digital camera. It's a bit more high tech so I've signed up for some digital photography courses this winter to learn to use all of the settings. I've been snapping some pictures and playing around with it. This is the time of year where we Zonies spruce up our porches with lots of flowers. My petunias are doing quite well in the cool evenings and warm winter days. It's the time of year where we like to remind our out of state family members and friends that we're quite glad we're here. The pink flowers are from the bouganvilla bush in one of my neighbor's yard that tends to grow over the fence into our yard. I complain about how messy they are to clean up... although they certainly are colorful. Then there's Sparky, sleeping really hard... he must have been dreaming of a big bowl of milk. He looks so cute with his tongue sticking out. Last, I'm lucky to have animals that like each other. My blue eyed kitty, Pepper & Sparky enjoying each others company.

Girl's Lunch & Snickerdoodle Time

I have various materials around my house that keep reminding me of projects I planned to do.... but never got done. So instead of pitching things I decided that it would be criminal not to let one of my creative friends--the one that makes found materials into home decor masterpieces-- in on perfectly good materials that are going to end up in the trash. I had some flagstone scraps that I picked up from my in-laws when they remodeled their home years ago. Thought it would make a cool walking path. Never got to it. Today Mary Ann came and we loaded the flagstone into her truck so she can add it to her walking path. I'm sure it's going to look fabulous when she's done with it. First we had some lunch and then Claire tested the snickerdoodle cookies I made last night. A nice afternoon girlie outing! Thanks Claire & Mary Ann for making it a fun afternoon.

Brrrrrrrrr... WSU vs ASU

We took a weekend trip to visit with Moscow, Idaho relatives Gary and Marilyn Pope and went to the Washington State University vs Arizona State game in nearby Pullman. Pictured in the pre-game field house party are Mike, Gary, Marilyn, Matt Sr and Jr and myself. Marilyn and I got quite a few looks from the opposing team with our devil horns but we were easy to spot at the game. We weren't the only devils though... I had to take a picture of the little devil that was at the field house. I have no idea who he is--but he was so cute that I had to get a picture. He was nice enough to let me.

We had a great time and were reminded what it's like to sit on aluminum bleachers when it's 40 degree out. It got quite chilly at the end of the game... even with all the Devils there!

ASU won 27-24 in a thrilling game.

It's the Little Things...

A soft rug and a little buddy...
Sparky and Figaro (a.k.a. Figgy) do what kitties love to do... nap! Sparky's getting to be a big kitty and he loves having brothers and a sister to play, eat and sleep with. He especially likes sleeping on my pillow, hugging my head EVERY night!

Hot Head Regatta

It was a beautiful day for the Hot Head Regatta on Tempe Town Lake which was last Saturday, October 29th. The Hot Head is a "head race" which is best time wins. It was 2.75 miles long. We were a bit far out for the spouse to snap any good pictures. My double scull partner, Julie Busskohl and I got a 1st place Master Women' Novice 2X medal. However, because there were no other novice double scullers we only had ourselves to beat! We only have 2 months left before we are no longer Novice status and our time was comparable to the first place finishers in the non-novice race so they will be looking for us at the next race!
